A teacher-mentor-coach for Verner classrooms: Your investment at work for our early learning community.
In addition to supporting her family as a mom and grandma, Melissa works as a teacher-mentor in Verner classrooms and as a key mentor supporting high school and college students training to be early educators in the Partnership for Excellence in Early Childhood Education (PEECE) project.
Melissa has 25 years of teaching experience and a natural ability to guide teachers in the classroom. She appreciates the early educators she supports: “They seem to feel comfortable coming to me and sharing their struggles.” Teaching is hard work and teachers must feel confident in the classroom. Melissa helps model and guide evidence based classroom techniques. Professional development for early educators helps them to grow in their understanding and ability allowing them to create strong bonds with children. Melissa is an ideal support for the attachment-based curriculum model that Verner uses for all classrooms and home-based families.
Melissa’s role as teacher-mentor-coach is important to the success of teachers and the success of children and families. Her role is part of a focused effort to provide teachers with the tools they need to succeed. We appreciate your support and we invite you to come and meet Melissa and to see the impact of your gift on children and families in our community. Thank you!
