Home Based Program
As an Early Head Start provider, we provide a home based program that serves children birth to three years and low income pregnant women throughout Buncombe County.
Our skilled educators visit a family’s home for 90 minutes per week, providing support, parenting education and fun activities for the children. Parents take an active role in these home visits, as we believe parents are their child’s first teacher.
Serves low income children three and younger AND pregnant women.
In-Home Educators provide activities and materials so that parents can facilitate the home visits. We monitor each child’s growth and development and tailor the instruction to meet a child’s individual goals.
In-Home Educators host two Play & Learn events each month, either at one of our centers or in the community. These events bring parents together for a meal and educational experiences to increase parent-child engagement and socialization for both the children and the families.
Many of the families served in our Home Based program are physically or socially isolated due to lack of transportation, language barriers or other circumstances and these events allow them to build a sense of community with other families in the program.
Weekly 90-minute home visits with our dedicated and well-trained In-Home Educators.
Additionally, In-Home Educators provide family support services and link families to key community resources to ensure their needs are being met. The Home Based program also provides pregnancy support to women and helps guide them in enrolling their unborn child in one of our programs.
