Home-Based Services

We provide a home-based program that serves eligible children ages zero to three years and low-income pregnant women throughout Buncombe County.

Verner Will Bring the Classroom to You!

Participants receive weekly 90-minute home visits with our dedicated and well-trained In-Home Educators.

• Do fun activities, like making playdough in your own kitchen.
• Create art and games with your child using things you already have in your home.
• Share your concerns about tantrums, language development, or sleep schedules with someone who will partner with you to find the strategies and supports that work for your child.
• Connect with other families who have young children at our Home-Based Socials. 

Each month we offer two Play & Learn Socials at various locations in the community. These events are opportunities for family members to enjoy being together and to connect with other families who have young children. We also provide a Rainbow In My Tummy meal and offer transportation to those who need it. ​

Home-Based ​Early Head Start Services are Free For Eligible Families

Our Home-Based Program serves low-income families throughout Buncombe County. We work with children birth to three as well as expectant families. Our In-Home Educators visit a family’s home for 90 minutes each week throughout the year. This is a great option for families who want parenting support but are not interested in or able to enroll their child in a childcare center.   

How to Apply for Verner’s Home-Based Programs

After you complete the online portion of the application, our Enrollment Coordinator will reach out to you to continue the application process.
